Default amps, subs, speakers, and radios.

so i have wanted to post a thread about what kinda amps, subs, (none stock)speakers/radios you have in your saturn.

so i have a DB drive, proaudio A3 pro1200.
specs: two channel.
2 ohm stereo capability
drivesink heat management system
buffered pre-amp input circuitry
continuously variable 12dB high pass X-over
continuously variable 12dB low pass X-over
variable 12dB bass boost @ 45Hz
(more stuff most amps have)
rated power 14.4 volts~ 2x150 watts at 4ohms
rated power 14.4 volts~ 1x600 watts at 4ohms bridged
rated power 14.4 volts~ 2x300 watts at 2 ohms
bandwidth 20-28KHz
input sensitivity 285MV-4.3V
signal to noise ratio >95dB
THD at rated power <0.05%

subs are MA audio dual 10" in box closed with plexey glass cover, four metal rings behind the subs in the box for air.

i do not have the spesific specs for the subs, however they are matched to my amp so far as watts, power and such.

amp is under my seat, grounded to chassy, useing 4G wire for power going to battery. also 4G for ground. 16G wire for remote wire. i wanted to be sure i was getting my power to my subs so i used normal sized speaker wire(which is 24G i think) i twisted the +/- wires together at both ends to make one wire out of two did this for both channels.

Pioneer head unit with radio, CD/MP3 player, AUX jack
4x 4ohm Kenwood speakers all throughout

I know it's not much of a system, but I'm not going for big ghetto blasters, or something.

and I don't need amps, I want more volts, ohms, and watts instead.

volts ohms and watts is what an amp does, they make amps for speakers. also mine are not "ghetto blasters" they boom but i dont play them at max. if i did a car behind me may feel it or hear it, but mainly its felt inside the car not outside.

i actualy got them cuz my sister is deaf and has not heard music in years. so i put in the subs and amp so she could "lissen" to music again. i also like to feel my music.

oh the feel of avenged seven fold, FFDP, and many others. to me it adds to the music.

i dont like it just being bass, i need high and low.

I have Polk ex625's (dx maybe? the older series) for the doors & rear tray, a 12" Polk sub (350w rms), a 5ch amp to power all 5 speakers (4ch plus sub, AIO) but it's a cheap eBay special, a JVC Aresenal KD-R615 head unit and a 8gb thumb drive to plug into it

Keeps up with the dumbass's that only do sub's okay, but when I crank it everyone can hear the whole song, not just the thumping beat

The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

So wait you have a 5chan amp going to all four speakers and your sub the correct? If that is correct then you are starving your subs, they are underpowered I would think which makes them blow.

I have 4 cheap Sony Xplods that I purchased 9 years ago when I was 16 and didn't know better. Mated to a factory stereo they were on par with stock sound quality. Also have a DEH-1000 installed and soon to be ripped out.

Kenwood KDC-MP242 (wicked old head unit, purchased the iPod brain so I could control my iPod through it)

Alpine Type S component speakers in the front doors (tweeters in the stock location)

Alpine Type S coaxial speakers in the back doors

Alpine MRP-M500 amplifier (on a kill switch)

Rockford Fosgate 12" P2D212 in a ported box (for when I want to be THAT obnoxious teenage punk with the loud bass)

Alpine Type S 10" Dual 4 ohm woofer in a sealed box, for just a little bit of extra oomph, plus it takes up a helluva lot less space than that rockford.

I made sure to put my woofer amp on a kill switch because I realize for the most part excessive bass is juvenile and makes me look like an idiot. The Type S speakers (I have the older version) are well rounded and put out more than enough bass with the EQ flat on my Kenwood.

Maybe some hertz speakers and a 4-channel in the future, but being a college kid im broke, so probably not.

It would be the other way around, that's how you ruin an amp, not the sub.

well to start, a pioneer avh-p8400bh head unit
2 kicker ks650.2 speakers in the front
2 kicker ds650.2 speakers in the back
2 kicker 400 watt mono block amps
2 kicker 12 inch comps
also 2 caps with all kicker wiring.
only running at 4 ohms for a total of 400 watts from my subs but it sounds like
1000 watts.

I kept blowing the left front speaker in my system, which I finally attributed to dust accumulating in the door panel. In reaching that conclusion, I put in a modest stereo:

JVC 100 watt receiver/CD
Kenwood 3-way speakers in the front
JT 2-Speakers in the back

Even that makes a world of difference.
