1995 SL1
Default A/C Interior Water Leak Solution

So lately I began to have wet driver and passenger side front carpet in my 1995 SL1. The floor mats were wet underneath and not on top. After searching a bunch on here I figured it had to be my A/C evaporator outlet drain was clogged, since I don't have a sun roof. I cleaned the drain as instructed, ink pen trick, but my floors were still getting wet. I noticed water dripping inside below the evaporator housing so I knew it was the A/C. The drain was wide open but it was still coming inside. I remembered I had the same issue when I had a '92 Grand Marquis that when the water drained out of the evap drain it would drip down and hit a foam insulator that went around the drain between the evap box and the fire wall. The water would hit the foam, which deteriorated over time, and would run back inside the car. Well that is what is happening here. Water ran out of the drain and back into the car. Solution was to put RTV around the drain where the foam is and, as an added precaution, I also stuck a small piece of 5/8 rubber hose, about an 1 1/2 long, off the end of the drain to extend where the water runs out to make it further from the fire wall. Result is no more water inside my car. Hope this help someone.

Give it a shot. On a nice day you may want to take the carpet and seats out to let everything get good an dry, its not too hard.

I'm about to hit the 200k mile mark myself, love the car.
