Default Heater Won't Stop

When I turn my thermostat to cool the heat still comes out like I have the heat on. Even when I turn the A/C on heat still blows out. Any ideas what could be wrong?
Thanks for any help.

When you turn the temp selector, is there the normal amount of resistance? Does it stop at the usual limits?

Thanks for your help,
Heated coolant always flows through the heater core and amount of heat induced into air-stream is controlled by a damper door (cover) controlled by the air temp switch.

Yours could be disconnected behind AC panel or perhaps is disconnected from the door (or - gasp - broken ).

I tried to attach two files - one to replace (inspect) the air temp cable and the other to remove IP panel to get at the HVAC control. However, both exceed forum limits but I can email to you if you PM an address.

The selector mechanism on the backside came off. Remove the window control "ring" around the gear shift and then remove the 4 screws that hold on the center pocket (or I think where the heated seat controls are on VUEs so equipped). Then, pop the whole center console trim bezel off. Then connect the selector mechanism to the bezel. You'll have to play with the knob to find out where the needs to be when connected to the mechanism. Hopefully the hooks that secure it didn't break.
