Frontend noise when braking
I've got a '99 SL2 with about 90k miles on it. When the weather is warm (above 60-65) and the car has been driven for a couple of miles, it makes a thwak, thwak, thwak sound when braking. Seems to be coming from the drivers side and changes its repetition with the speed of the tire rotation. I've had it in for service several times for this problem. I think they've put 4 or 5 sets of pads on it. When the pads are new I don't get the noise. but 3k-4k later, it's back. The last time I had it in for this service, they replaced rotors and calipers as well as the pads. The problem occurs whether I use regular or ceramic pads. I don't normally hear the problem if it's raining moderately but I still hear it in light rain. I don't get any pulsing or pulling. Anyone have any idea, I'm taking it in again next week.
