Default 1993 Saturn Ion SL1 Brake Light Issue (Weird)

Hey guys,

I have a 1993 Saturn SL1, and it's having some issues with the brake lights: when I press the brake pedal, the brake lights won't come on; when I use my remote car starter, the lights DO come on at full brightness...

The PARK and BRAKE fuses are both okay as well... at this point I guess it could be a wiring issue, although I'm not actually sure.

Does anyone have any ideas?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Does the car have cruise control? If so, try this - get up to speed and engage the cruise. Then press the brake pedal. If the cruise doesn't disengage, the switch on the brake pedal is the prime suspect.

Beyond that, I would recommend decommissioning the remote start, or at least decommission any connection it has to the brake light wiring, and revert it to stock.

BTW, your car's not a ION. The ION didn't exist until 10 years after your car.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

I agree - It sounds like a pretty straight-forward brake light switch problem.
