Shift knob replacement options?

Hi guys, I am trying to replace my manual shift knob on a 07 ion 2 because the chrome is coming off.
What non-stock options do I have? Thanks.

if you want to stick with the slip on kind, please do yourself a favor and stay away from the cheap walmart and auto zone ones. the only slip on brand I've found that actually stays on the shifter is momo. the difference is how they go on. I included a picture in hopes it will help my point, but the momo style is on the right. the momo knobs come down past the plastic adapter insert that goes between the knob and the shifter, so the set screws screw into the shifter. the cheap ones usually have the shift knob too short, so the screws end up screwing into the plastic adapter. the cheap kind spins around and can come off in your hand.

I ended up getting a TWM short shifter, so now I use a screw on type shifter, which works much better, IMO, than the slide on kind.

Where is the picture?lol I think I know what you mean. Is there a specific MOMO knob I have to buy or any slip in would work? And one more thing,how do the shift knobs that are not round feel? Should I stick with a round one? Thanks

here. I love euro style shift knobs (like this: http://www.momousa.com/products/quark-shift-knob.html). you grab them more like a monte carlo stock on a gun. all the momo knobs work well. I haven't had much luck with non OEM knobs, so now I run a solid chunk of aluminum, but the momo knobs are nice.

Either of you know what the thread pitch on the stock shifter is off the top of your head?

none, it's not threaded.

It slides in on a square shaft.

Then it clicks on a "track" on the said shaft.


Any ideas on a decent shift boot cover? Once again does any universal one work? Thanks.
