Default 2nd gen aftermarket window switch???

I just picked up a '99 today and I needed to take the carpet out for cleaning. Well, only one window worked and the switch was aftermarket. I thought I could just wire up the original connector and plug in an OEM switch, but things look strange down there.

What do you think? Did any cars come with power windows but manual mirrors?

This one has the wiring harness from a 96 laying behind it:

I can use any 2nd gen harness and switch, right?

That is part of the main body harness and it is year/model unique with the added benefit of also being option unique.

Is that the mangled remains of the switches sticking up there? Yes any gen-2 switch should work. You may have had electric mirrors on at least one side originally. Once you ID what was OEM installed then what switch works can be figured out.

Power windows and power passenger mirror came together, never separate for '99.

If it has an RPO code it could be special ordered.

This is the best I could do with the codes:

Also, I wanted to know if anyone has had luck with duplicolor? I used some on a ford box van and it was a perfect match!

I've got some fenders and door panels to repair or replace:

I checked out one junkyard yesterday...no plum SLs.

It's at least partially back up for free: http://www.compnine.com/vid.php
Type in the VIN and it spits out everything associated with it.

These products are a little easier to work with. http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ you have the best luck with brush applied base color using a very fine point water color brush and then using the same technique with the clear coat to finish. Color code is 110E.

Have you connected a good switch to the wiring and checked the windows and doors?

I see an A31 but are any of the other codes present? Looks like the area of interest is under the splotch...

There are probably connectors in the doors for electric remote mirrors and it is entirely possible that the originals have been replaced at some time in the past.

I still couldn't figure out if that was aftermarket power windows or not. But, I broke out the FSM and looked up the connectors. I managed to color code the wires I had there with a connector I pulled from a parts car. I got all 4 windows to operate normally!

I was still wondering what this black connector is? Any ideas?

Is that black tape wrapped around it? Need more photos to make a guess.

It helps to have the real manual....

Maybe you don't have power mirrors because that's a right hand drive Saturn. Be kind of silly to have a power right mirror and a manual left side one since you're sitting on the right side.
