If Saturn was still alive, the Astra Red Line would have been a Saturn Version of the Opel Astra OPC.
Anyone can do that, buy an Astra OPC from Europe and convert it in a Saturn. What do you think about this idea, it would be an unritten page in Saturn history.

The issue is that the Saturn has an incompatible CAN-BUS system. Expect to purchase either an OPC or VXR as a whole for parts to do the conversion. You'd have an easier time importing one. I'm willing to bet you can get GM to certify that the European LHD Astra is "substantially similar" to a US Astra and be able to register it here. By the time you've worked all of that out, you could have a better car imported. R33 Skylines are eligible for importation, for instance. One should cost about the same as an Astra, too.

Also could've gotten a WRX or a R32 here. No hassle with that one and their still better than the Astra

Can't import an R32, just an R33. Motorex crash tested cars in order to make them eligible for import, but they only crashed R33s, not R32s. Since there isn't a chassis here that's "substantially similar" to the R32, we won't be able to import them until they are 25 years old.
I know a guy that bought one through Motorex. The government seized his car and crushed it.

R32
![]() R33 ![]() Different chassis, which means the crash test data that Motorex provided doesn't apply to the R32. Not only that, their data only applies to 1996 through 1998 R33s. This is per the federal list of cars eligible for importation. Here is that list in .pdf format.

Canada's rolling age for importation is 15 years. You can import pretty much anything older than 15 years old up there. Here in the States, the rolling age is 25 years.
