Default Saturn Fans of the North East - Meet & Greet

Hello all!

We're working on the 1st Annual Saturn Fans of the North East Meet & Greet for this coming July.

I'll be hosting the event at my home just north of Altoona, PA. We have plenty of room for parking and tents. There is at least one inexpensive hotel/motel within a couple of miles from here, too.

Be sure to check out (and Like) the Facebook page! The page has a poll for possible dates, and will be the main spot for updates and announcements for the upcoming event.

Midnight13 will be bringing a few Saturn SL door panels for the little ones to jump on, just like the Saturn Homecoming events. If anyone has some extras, please bring them!

http://www.facebook.com/SaturnFansNorthEast

Hope to see you there!!

Ron

For those without FB that are still interested, there are 3 weekend dates in July in the poll. Please feel free to leave feedback or ideas in this thread.

July 15-16, 21-22 and 28-29.

Weekends work best for most people, it would give more than enough time for those like me that work every weekend to request off and plan for the trip financially. Heck, a 5hour trip in my SL is only a $26 tab, $45 maybe in the Vue

My husband and myself are members of NY based fbody car club. We've had a number of statewide meets already. We can try planning this meet and greet similar.

There will be enough land for a campout and the displaying of all the Saturns It will be warm enough for tent pitching. Our little one has attended at just 2 years old, so kids are definitely welcome Hopefully with further planning, the grills can be brought out, and we can have a cookout, possible gathering around the fire with marshmallows, and discuss our Saturns

We can try planning an initial meeting point. We typically meet at the towns local store. We bring most of the food and such, but can pick up last minute things or perishables there. Afterwards, we can cruise to our meeting/camp area.

We can try looking for any events that may be going on those Sunday's to extend the meet before everyone departs to go home. Some carshows may be going on..who knows.

Already had some interest in a thread Redgemini had posted a while back, with one member maybe able to come from MI, let's see if we can get a few states members in on this! NY, PA, and OH members!!

I'm down for meeting new friends/fellow Saturn owners. May seem a little weird at first, know it was at our first fbody meet, now we've got friends that are just like family!!!

Awesome pointers! I think we'll have a nice turnout, even if the numbers don't show it.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread, as well.

Do you know how far the meet is out from the city of Philadelphia? I ask because I live roughly 20 minutes out from there in NJ depending on traffic... It doesnt sound like a bad drive, I just will have summer work soon and dont know how that schedule would play out to head to the event . Id find it quite fun personally, I know a couple other people are hanging around with Vue's who live in NJ. It would be fun to plan a trip with them and just travel together. (be good especially since your traveling in numbers...etc) .

That would be awesome if you guys could come!

Google Maps is showing 4h 22m - 242 miles. I'd say add a few, but that would be ballpark. Pin A is where we're having it on the map below.

Here are a few pics of what we'll be working with. I think this is plenty of space for everyone. We're hoping to have the swimming pool up by the end of next month, at the latest, so bring bathing suits!

Good luck with the Meet & Greet. I99 is a beautiful interstate to drive along. If I am free on one of those weekends I may make the trip and camp out.

Thanks. It would be great to have you, if you can make it.

I99 is pretty scenic in most spots.

I pulled up the route from my house on Google maps and it doesnt look half bad. Not much different than Philly. Has me mainly taking the 76. I personally dont mind taking the back roads however and usually see them as the GPS is set to avoid tolls as much as possible. It would be great I meant as well in my last post to travel with other users like NJFRR and such. We could go as a small group.
No tents here however, so It would look like im up in the hotel. Ill be sure to swing out in the morning though, cook sausage on the firepit .

Be fun too to be in town and have something like a pull-in car show.

I do have a tent that's decent... enough for 2 people comfortably. There are also 2 sofas in that big gazebo, which could work depending on weather.

I was thinking of something like a lineup - cruise around kinda thing. If we parked them all in the upper field (behind the gazebo), they'd be noticed from the road. We could even park some in the lower front yard, right beside the road.

I'm going to check into a large banner to advertise near the house. We have to get a set date in place first.

I'm leaning towards the 2nd or 4th weekend in July, but I'm open to suggestions.

I'd like to get a banner made up to start "advertising" the event.

Here's something I threw together on vistaprint.com.

Let me know what ya think!

Not bad! I was thinking of somthing where you have a line of people holding up gm keyfobs of multi colors, that would be cool. It will be interesting to hear about other VUE related info too. .

Thanks for the tent offer, If i decide to show I will definitely keep it in mind!

Due to some conflicts in schedule, we're moving the Meet & Greet to August. This should also help some of you make better plans.

The dates being considered are:
August 4th & 5th
August 11th & 12th
August 25th & 26th

There is a poll on the Facebook page, but any input in this forum is appreciated.

Thanks!
