Question Ignition Switch?

By the title I know that you know im having starting problems. I've read a lot of threads on this issue and am leaning towards the ignition switch but want to get some opinions. Sometimes I get nothing, not even the fuel pump kicking in. Also at times I will get multiple loud clicks with the key turned to start then will continue to start after the key is let go back to the run position. would the switch cause this? Once started and driving, sometimes will loose power for a split second and the check engine light will flash on then go right off. Aswell, the car will shut off completely every now and then. Will the ignition switch cause all of these problems? BTW, 2.2 ecotec, manual trans, less than 90 000 KMs

Two things I would check:

Ignition switch: they're less than $30 at Advance, and easy to replace, I'd do it anyway as preventative maintenance if you haven't already.

Bad ground: this is free to check, just check your grounds for rust or corrosion. I dunno where the grounds are on a base Ion, but on my Redline my car wouldn't start properly and it turns out the ground right near the ABS module under the hood was rusted and I had to move it to clean metal and my car started no problem.
