Default JY EGR installed, verify tubes?

Hi all!

I brought home an EGR from the yard yesterday and today had the opportunity to install it. Could someone look at the photos and let me know if this is how the solenoid is supposed to hook up? Also, what used to mount there in the second photo?

THANKS!

Yeah.

It looks like you may have a leaking cam cover. This is a common problem (Saturn used RTV to seal the cam covers, back then, and they tend to develop leaks after a while). You can now buy a pre-formed rubber gasket to use, instead of RTV (you just need a small dab of RTV on both sides where the timing chain cover meets the head).

Actually, the motor is a replacement according to the po so there's no telling how that cam cover was installed. However, I do not see evidence of a leak in person so I'm just leaving it for now. No oil in the plug holes either.

It at least doesn't leak nearly as much as my Fiero so that one will get the new gaskets first.

There is a lot of oil near the EGR valve and on the top of the intake manifold. Unless someone has been really careless adding oil, there's a fairly significant leak. If it doesn't consume a lot of oil, it won't hurt anything (and may actually help prevent rust, if it's leaking onto the subframe), but it looks like it could easily account for a significant amount of oil loss between changes.

Yeah... That would be me. The 5-quart jug plugged harder than I expected and I don't own any simple green yet.
