Default Oil leak from filter area

Getting a rather substantial oil leak from the filter (housing) area on 2008 3.5L. Especially while car is warming up in the morning. replaced the filter twice now but it still leaks. It seems to be coming from above the filter. Is it possible the housing is leaking and is it replaceable? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

There's an oil filter adapter on that engine & it's that gasket that usually leaks.

I'm having a very hard time finding a diagram of the 3.5L for the housing or adapter area. found a couple 3.6L schematics but thats a totally different engine if I remember correctly. Is the adapter readily available and fairly straight forward in removal?

Adapter gasket on a 2006 Malibu 3.5L, have a feeling this may be what I'm looking for.

I don't know why but it's a fairly common leak source.
