Try to turn back to ON first, Make sure the steering wheel lock isnt engaged. DON'T OVER FORCE IT. If you cannot get it out, WD40 to loosen the old dirt and grease then relube.

This may sound strange, I've actually pulled my key before I've made it to lock. I've had to reinsert it and get it To ACC before i could get it back to LOCK and remove it.

When you actually get the key out, make a copy then file the origional down a bit. That MAY let it come out easier in the future. And of course clean and relube the ignition cylinder.

Just spray it out with contact cleaner, use an entire can or until it runs out clean. Take the lower cover off the column first though. And put a couple bath towels on the floor. Then after that dries out dust in a small amount of powdered mica. No oil, silicone, grease, graphite etc or you will have another stuck key. You can buy powdered mica at a gun shop that sells reloading supplies.

I've always just 'pumped' graphite (available at most hardware stores) into lock cylinders. It has always worked well for me. OldNuc tends to recommend some sort of 'powdered mica' IIRC, which is used for firearms, I think he said.

Powdered mica is used in lots of places, concrete mold release, cosmetics, paint, and a high pressure dry lubricant, high temperature lubricant, and probably many more. The benefit is it does not clump up or absorb moisture.
