Default High Beams

I just noticed that the right side high beam does not work. The mechanic says that there is a flap which has to move out of the way but it is stuck in place. The whole assembly has to be replaced at a cost of more than $300. Apparently that action would be needed if a low beam simply failed... Any suggested way to fix a low beam? I ain't about to fix a high beam.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Default Re: High Beams

The high beam and the low beam use the same bulb, like your mechanic said, using a shutter, to shut off the top half of the beam in order to turn it into a low beam.

If the low beam were to fail, it would be caused by a bulb failure (in turn causing your high beam to fail too, since it's all through a single bulb) and is easily remedied by changing the headlight bulb just the same as any other car.
