Default ION Speed sensor?

I bought myself a Pioneer AVIC-X930BT. The instructions say that in order for the GPS to work correctly, I have to run a wire through the firewall and splice it in with my vehicle speed sensor.

So. Here's my question. Where is it?

BTW. Mine is a 2004 ION with a 2.2 liter engine. And it's an automatic.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Default Re: ION Speed sensor?

Just off the top of my head, having never searched for one on an Ion, I'd wager by the Brakes (which is where they were on my Chevrolet Monte Carlo), or inside the transaxle.

Yea. But I'm not hooking it to a Monte Carlo. I'm hooking it to an ION. I'm pretty sure there's a difference.

Would it work to just go behind the cluster and splice the wire in with the speedometer lead? And if so, how would I remove the dash cover to get behind the cluster?

GPS needs to know what your vehicle sensor says you are traveling at? How about letting the GPS use readings from GPS? As long as the GPS has a signal with a few Satellites... most GPS devices will give almost realtime speed readings.

I'm just going by what the installation manual is telling me.

But yea, what wire does the speedometer use in the gauge cluster?
