Default Instalation instructions for Timing Belt from Gates timing belt kit.

I have attached the installation instructions from the Gates timing belt kit for 2000-2005 L81 engines. Kit TCK285B works for years 2000-05 but the Kit TCK285A only works for 2000-2002 years. In 2002 there was a revision to the tensioner plate so you need to know your engine serial number from the sticker on the side of the timing belt cover or remove the cover to see if the lower idler pulley is fixed. The serial number they refer to is not the last six of your VIN. The fixed lower pulley is no longer provided in the Gates kit due to discontinued production by SKF. SKF is the manufacture of the timing belt kit and now provides the lower idler pulley with an adjustable nut as explained in the web link below.

Not even one thank you? P.S don't over tighten your timing belt cover it will rub and scare the you know what out of you once you start it up for the first time. All bolts on cover just need to be a little over finger tight.

Thanks, Clean93.

I plan to do mine soon. Car only has 83K on it, but it is 11 years old, and belts don't last forever. It's on my fall to-do list.

Thanks for all the good info, too late for me, mine broke. That is why I have been surfing for info. Plan to do it myself, pulling heads to have redone and over time hope my 2001 l300 runs again. Much fun ahead! Now just collecting info and obvious parts needed.

CYCLONE,
My L300 has 115041 miles on the odometer. Waiting to retire next week, then I begin the project.
