2005 VUE 2.2L
Default Engine replacement labor cost..

I'm just curious what the going labor rate is to R&R an engine nowadays?

2.2 w/manual tranny.

I'm doing the labor myself, so I'm wondering how much money I saved.........

$80 - $100 per hr. in the Seattle area. I don't have access to what hours the book shows, but as stated you saved alot!

My input is like comparing apples to oranges but I recently paid a local Cedar Rapids, Iowa mechanic a flat-rate of $600 to replace the torque converter, auto transmission and front differential for a Subaru Forester.

I provided the parts (thank you salvage yard) and didn't care how long it was going to - or did take - it was worth that to me.

The shops out here run $80 minimum. I would imagine for a pro that is about a full 8 hour job at a well equipped shop, so you save some good money. I can't go near that fast, but I just do it for fun Changing an S series motor tonight, along with the wiring harness. Such fun. Got it in there with the wires all on and called it a night. I figure another 3-4 hours and I can drive it.
