Default How do you decode the...

Now that I know how to decode the VIN I would like to know how to decode the cowl tag. Anyone?

1991-2002 Saturn S-Series VIN Decoder

or just punch it in here: http://www.decodethis.com/

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Are you talking about the VIN in the lower part of the Window? That is the Window Cowl, but it is simply just the VIN. Or are you referring to the Inside Trunk Wheel Cover that has all of the options printed on it?

There is not anything that I know of as a "Cowl Tag"...

clarify where you are talking about...

Cowl tags are more prominent on automobiles made before the 1980's. I've never heard the term cowl tag being used in conjunction with late-model vehicles.

Saturns have a list of RPO codes, but those are posted on that piece of cardboard under the trunk carpeting/floormat that covers the space where the spare tire (donut) is located.

My 1988 Cutlass has a cowl tag. It is the tag that the factory put on the car that has all information about the body style and color code for the car and is located ( usually ) on the firewall. And so does the 2002 Tahoe. I do not think it was limited to car before the 1980s.

WRONG.

The photos section is presently rigged not to take uploads from anyone.

Anyone, no matter how many or how few posts, can post pics using the "Attachment" (paper clip) feature.

Users with 15 or more posts can post LINKS. (Links are not necessarily pics, and pics are not necessarily links.)

I stand corrected... I just figured that the whole 15 posts before you could post links also applied to pictures as well.

Guess that shows how long it has been since I have put any photos in my own gallery.
