2005 VUE 2.2L
Default Manual Transmission input shaft seal

To preclude a transmission leak when I get the car running again, I want to replace the input shaft seal on the manual transmission.

It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere.

So I'm looking for a GM part number

or

if the manual transmission used on a 2005 2.2 Vue is used in any other GM vehicles (Chevy would be nice since they're the closest to me).

thanks

I realize you only wanted a compatible seal so I thought I'd see how many GM transmissions were interchangeable with the Vue Getrag.

I did internet search of Iowa salvage yards for manual 5-speed to fit 2005 Vue. I found many transmissions are available but all are from Saturns.

Salvage yards always have their stuff together when it comes to interchangeable hardware but in this case, it appears Vue transmissions are somehow distinctly different than those used in other GM vehicles.

I had found this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getrag_F23_transmission

Indicating that there was 2 versions of this tranny; vue and other.

The difference seemed to be 5th gear.

But when I looked up vehicles in the other category they seemed to have a F35 tranny..............

Default How about that........

So I sent a request of to the nearest authorized Saturn Dealer (Chevy) and got this:

"The seal is not sold sepperate from the clutch slave cylinder. The cylinder is a special order part that takes 1-2 days to get, all special orders need to be pre-paid. The cylinder sells for 325.15 + tax."

So it looks like you get a seal when you get a clutch slave cylinder........
