I'm posting this for my friend, but I'll tell it like it was me driving.
Driving home in my 98 SL1 I noticed the radio would cut out when I hit the brakes and come back on when I let off. I got home and shut off the ignition and everything inside went off. Radio, lights, door chime, everything. Put the key back in and nothing. No lights, not even dash lights. Turn the key - nothing, no starter click. Jiggled the battery cables. Checked the battery for voltage - 12.5 or so. Checked the fuses in the under-hood fusebox - voltage. Checked the inside fuse box for voltage... nothing! Is there a connection that could have come loose between the two fuse boxes or a fusible link that could have died or ... Where do I start?? The battery's 2 years old and wasn't that cheap. I didn't try to jump start it because I should at least have some kind of lights or door chime if the battery had enough to keep the car running and the stereo on. I can't check anything else till monday, I took my other car out of town. ... I own 2 Volvos (740Ti and 240) and have friends and family with SL1's. One's 94, one's 98

The large GREEN fuse. IP BAT feeds the always powered items on the I/P Panel and the remainder is from the ignition switch.
These are the ignition switched power. http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/sho...pg-1/cat/12963 http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/sho...pg-2/cat/12963 http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/sho...pg-3/cat/12963 As a wild guess, the ignition switch has failed.
