Default Caddy based on a VUE????

Check out a webpage that I put together. The page contains photos of the VUE and an upcoming Cadillac SUV.

The Truth is Out There.

Similar design lines, but something tells me that the interior will be a bit nicer.

Thumbs Up

Aside from the crossover, light SUV (or whatever they're calling such vehicles nowadays) moniker, the Saturn VUE and Cadillac SRX are two separate, unique vehicles. The VUE is built on GMs FWD Theta platform; the SRX on GMs RWD Sigma platform. The SRX is also about twice the price.

The SRX also has third row seats. The VUE does not.

Not even close. The only thing the two shares is being on the helm of GM mothership.

I saw a glimpse of that in the SB Cadillac ad, but I thought it looked like a BIG (does Cadillac do anything else?) Station Wagon.

Actually, Saturn influence was felt before the first one went on sale in October of 1990. The SL sedan's roofline was cribbed by Olds for the Cutlass Supreme models that came out circa 1988-1999. In fact, when I first parked my then-new Saturn SL in a valet lot, the ticket put down my car as an Oldsmobile.

As AH HA and jerry said, there is absolutely nothing in common between the Vue and the SRX except the general principle. The SRX is based off the Sigma platform, the Vue is the Theta platform.

That said I think the SRX will be very successful. It'll have a choice of two nice engines (260 hp V6, 315 hp V8 - both with VVT!), the 3rd row seat, some huge sunroof and a glass ceiling over the rear seats, magnetorheologic dampers in the suspension, and is, like the Vue, really designed for what SUV buyers actually need. I think the styling is really nice and the interior is similar to the CTS. Looks very appealing, at least to those looking to spend that kind of dough on an oversized wagon SUV crossover thing.

DesertPuma:

At least in the case of the XLR, GM seems to be going away from the bigger is better for Cadillac Mantra. The XLR is smaller and just might be the sportier of the high end two seater convertibles.

Probably not something that will be repeated in Cadillac's other offerings.

Gotta admit that XLR looks sweeeeeeeeeet.

BUT, I am sure it's too rich for my blood.

Similar lines but to me it looks more related to the buick than the Vue. But keep in mind that even though thats probably not based on the Vue the chevy Equinox is so saturn has influenced another Gm line and a few others. many brands are coming out with RAD on their small cars including the next generation grand am coupe (I wonder where the idea came from)

I don't think it is... I mean, they're both mid-sized SUV's, so they're bound to be similar.

By the way... take it easy on the hanging chad jokes, Arnel. They don't settle to well with us Floridians

It has to be nicer looking than this beast:

Nice dash - well integrated - very organic...

I wonder if it will roll as easily as the Montero Sports do??

Those fender flares are a bit odd, the nose is in need of plastic surgery and that interior is just awful. The roof-rails are very X-Terra like and bound to be noixe makers for occupants. I meant 'beast' in the same context as 'beast of burden'.

They may look similar but but I would think that would be where the comparison would end. Cadi would be larger, bells and whistles all over and I would think a totally different drivetrain. I could be wrong, but I think it will be a totally different vehicle.

No way, the 2003 Nissan Murano is closer to the Vue than the Caddy!

I saw it the other day, and if it wasn't for the headlights, it would be hard to judge either Vue or Murano from 100 feet away!
Except for the Nissan being a little more round(curvier), it's pretty close to the Vue IMO!
