2003 VUE 3.0L
Default Engine Serial #

Trying to order a Gates timing belt kit. There are 2 part #s for the 3.0L( L81) one for Serial. No. 578511 and before, and one for Serial. No. 578512 & After.
Any idea where the S/N are on these engines or how to find out what S/N i have.
Thanks

Pop off the black plastic cover on top of the intake manifold.

I'm noticing RA only asks about this for the 2002 MY (?). For '03, they only show 2 kits (TCK285BP & TCK285B), the only difference being that "P" comes with the cam shaft seals (I didn't bother changing mine). I also noticed that Amazon sells the TCK285BP kit for $134.53. They list the TCK285B for $128.67, but they call it just "Timing Belt Pulley" (?).

I think you are right, I might have been in 2002. I ordered the one from Amazon a few days ago the TCK285BP kit for $134.53 + free shipping. Both RA and Amazon have a ship date of about 6 weeks which is fine with me.I cannot believe how much cheaper Amazon is. Thanks for all your help.

Which Numbers are the specific engine S/N.
Mine reads 626267201372 is it the last 6 digits?

Valve cover gasket part numbers are different
1st Design; To Eng. Ser. No. 779874
2nd Design; From Eng. Ser. No. 779875

Thanks

I'm coming up empty on this. Maybe that tag is NOT the S/N?
Is there any way to tell if you need the set with 16 O-rings?

Usually they are referring to the last six digits of the VIN. Take a look at your VIN and see if the last six digits correlate to their numbering scheme.

Hi
You might be onto something there. The last 6 digits of my 2003 Vue Vin are
853044. Anyone got an 02? Can you see if the Vin is below 779874. They only offer one cover for the 02 3.0L so they would have to be below this number.
Thanks
