I thought this forum might enjoy this video on the surprising performance of a Saturn Wagon. That part kicks in about halfway through.
As a new user, I can't post links. Just go to youtube and do search on "Velocity Report". It should be the first video listed. I just wanted to run this by some Saturn owners for review. I hope this does the car justice. Thanks, Bill |

Funny video, and very truthful too. Wow, that L was pristine under the hood, was that it's first time outdoors =p

That was BRILLIANT!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElFtCW6W4KY makes it easier. Made me feel good about my car again, as well as all I've done recently. I've been fixing little things, and a major tune up is around the corner. As well as new tires. And I want it tinted... I could go on, couldn't we all? BRILLIANT VIDEO!

That is one professionally produced video. I especially like the peeling of the orange to get to the good stuff. If Saturn had actually run some ads like that for the L they might have sold a lot more. This car suffered from virtually zero promotion during its run. One of the big car mags did a comparo of 7 sedans in 2000. Saturn cheekily sent a 4 banger 5 speed against all the others being top line 6 autos. The L had the second best acceleration, best brakes, best slalom time and finished.... last. So much for the mags. BTW, after much searching I found a published 0-60 time for the I4/5M - 8.9 seconds. How does the L do this with less HP than the competition? It weighs hundreds of pounds less.

so awesome. so true. How can you say its low to the ground, has great handling, awesome acceleration and a sexy engine and say its not a performance sedan?

Great video! Easily one of the best looking (and sounding) engines to come from GM. Light weight and the potent V6 made our L300 a pleasure to drive.

I loved this video, especially the way it was produced. I agree that if it was used when the L-Series debuted, I would have been sold.

Does it have the horrible, choppy, back pain inducing ride my L-series did?

Great video, and I do like the Lcars. The 3L V6 itself is a good motor. How GM connected it to the car with a crappy computer system on the other hand...not so go. BCM fail anyone?
I would buy a V6, if it didn't have such crappy electronics.

Didn't realize that the L-Series with the V6 accelerated so well. Hmm...

I bought my LW2 with under 40K a few years ago. It now has just under 200K. Needless to say, it is driven quite a bit more than the average car. My goal is to get it to 250K. The V6 was a major factor of the purchase. It is smooth and sounds great! The fact that it is a sleeper performance car (be sure to get the right tires) only made it better.
I do need one bit of advice, where can I get a replacement antenna mast? The kayaks we put on the top of the wagon have damaged the original mast so it needs to be replaced. By the way, we get lots of looks when we pass other cars doing over 80 with a pair of kayaks on the top of a "grocery hauler." |
