1993 SL1
Default High Idle Issue HELP!

From a previous post......

"I have a 1993 Saturn SL1. 110,000 miles on it. I change the oil (high mileage oil) every 2,000 miles or so. Im always adding oil, so it burns a bit. I travel about 80 miles a day in it. Recently, Ive had an issue where it idles extremely high after a long commute, and especially if its hot out! The morning commute is perfectly fine....then the afternoon commute is when I have the issue. Usually after a long commute of stop n go, on a hot day. The car just idles very high when stopping at a light, and extremely high when in park. "

Update: TPS and ECTS replaced. Issue still exists.
Anyone know what step to take next?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Maybe either check for lost vaccuum and/or clean/replace your IAC valve, if not clean the throttle body?

You might also try checking you engine thermostat. The one that feeds the computer, not the gauge (providing you have two). Those can malfunction in some of the older cars and cause the car to think it's cold outside when it's not. Just an idea, but a long shot.

If you're thinking ECTS, the OP already replaced his. To OP: Did you check and clean/replace the connection as necessary?

and yes, OP having a '93, he has two sensors. Good call on the thermostat though. Get a 195 degree F one (though IIRC the 185 degree F one will work just fine on OBD-1 vehicles).
