At first, I thought "very unusual burn patterns - wait, why is it burning?"

On closer inspection - looks like mice. Reminds me, I should check the air filters on the cars that are sitting in the driveway.

* * *
Morning drive, beams only lit up a car length or two. Nice sharp cutoff but not impressed with pattern/aim yet. adjustment requires small Phillips (was able to adjust a bit with pliers on the outside), so will try and adjust later tonight or tomorrow

Either mice or chipmunks, there was a ton of acorns in there too. One of them even got stuck in the throttle

They made a next out of the blower motor a while back too, this probably happened around the same time and I just never noticed the air filter until now

Eeeewwww! Gonna have to check the cars sitting in the driveway for that. Wonder how they got in there? I can see the air filter (I've had a bird's nest in one car . . . that my wife or I was driving daily at the time)

aimed the headlights this morning, much better. Vertical adjustment is near perfect, might touch up horizontal a bit. Still not a fan of the pattern, but it does put a lot of light on the road. HIR2s should show up soon, thinking I might install them after all.

Picked up the parts that I ordered from Rock Auto and Tire Rack. I got front and rear struts, strut bellows, strut mounts from KYB, H&R Sport springs, Energy Suspension bushings and a pair of SKF front hubs. I also found a guy who has a front subframe from South Carolina that I'd like to get my hands on.

I had ordered bellows from JC Whitney on eBay, but made the mistake of assuming the front and rear bellows were the same... they were not, so I sent two of those back. The only hiccup from Tire Rack was that one of the rear strut mounts came without the spring seat.

I am still debating over whether to pick up the camber bolts for the struts.

Hopefully once that gets sorted out, I can get this all mounted before the winter comes.

We drained a little oil to get it down to the top of the hash mark. Filled up and averaged 32.6 MPG. This tank took us on the first significant highway trip, and we had the pod installed.

Have you ever tried to do that? A lot of work and rarely ever work/last. Replacements are relatively cheap and easy to install.

True, and time is short for me these days. The pair cost ne around $32 total

Swapping the lights out took literally just minutes. Longest part was undoing the connectors and twisting old bulbs out. Second longest was adjusting beams up/down, still need to move the driver side to the left just a scooch

Stock beam pattern is better, IMO, and easier to aim. I'll take a pic of the aftermarket pattern some time.

I kept the stockers and my plan is, when I have time next summer , to hand-sand the fronts of the lenses, then polish.

Then use a heat gun, remove them from the body, and wash the inside of the lens. Followed by washing the reflective parts and blacking out the rest of the inside, and using silicone to re-attach the lens. They'd look something like this:

Replaced Passenger Side Control Arm and Ball Joint.

Car was exhibiting very bad symptoms of clunking after braking and in some scenarios of acceleration / turning left. Really needs an alignment now.

Also cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the gasket.

It was very badly caked up with carbon build up. After cleaning that car runs very smooth again, has regained it's acceleration and no longer drops rpm under light throttle at low speeds (between 10-20mph)

And replaced the PCV valve

Changed oil in the 2001 SL2 at 218K miles. It gets changed every 3000 miles and goes through a quart during that time. Used regular Pennzoil with a short Fram filter (last short one in my stock). I'll switch to the long filter next time, unless another short one is found in the trunk of a J-Y Saturn before then.
