Default 100,000 Mile tune up

I have a 2002 SL2 nothing but the basic have been changed. Is there anything different I should be doing at the 100,000 mile level. All I know of is the fuel filter??

I have a 1997 Saturn Sl with 194,500 miles and still has the original fuel filter.
I tend to be very conservative about replacing parts simply because of milage,
evaluating the down side to keep using the car without changing parts. I would check the air filter- if dirty replace/ check the spark plugs- if worn replace, if not regap and reuse/clean the throttle body and IACV (idle air control valve) and EGR valve and PCV valve. The most important thing is to change the oil and filter at regular intervals- and keep close watch on oil levels-add as needed.

Default Re: 100,000 Mile tune up

I'm doing a 100k miles tune up on my "new to me" '01 SL1.

My list included:

Brake fluid flush
Lube brake slides
PCV Valve
Air Filter
Oil change and filter
transmission fluid change and filter
plugs
wires
fuel filter
clean EGR and air pump tubes
lube chassis (only a few spots can be)
lube window tracks
use a turkey baster to remove ATF from PS resevoir and refill w/ synthetic
ECTS
Rotate tires

I'm doing most of it because as the new owner, I don't know when it was last performed (like tire rotation and trans fluid/filter, etc.) but at 100k miles, I'd want to do any of this above stuff anyway. Total expense for parts is only about $100, most of that being the fuel filter.

+1 on the fuel filter. I bought a 1997 SW2 awhile ago that had 189k on it with the ORIGINAL fuel filter. By that time it had pretty much destroyed the fuel pump by making it work harder than needed pushing fuel through that filter. I promptly replaced the filter but still ended up needing a new pump.

+1 also on the stuff project84 mentioned above
I would add clean the throttle body and inspect the serpentine belt/replace.

My thoughts are similar on replacing parts/sensors like that - you get a baseline idea of everything since the car was new to you and you get the peace of mind and satisfaction that goes with it.

I'd have the fuel filter on hand. It doesn't need to be done at 100k on the dot; some have gone to 150k without major issues.

From 1998 on, the S-series used a combined fuel filter/ fuel pressure regulator (so this will cost $50~$80 for the part - btw, use only the OEM filter or the one by Wix, #33931 or 33731 - same filter, different numbers; may also be sold by NAPA with the same part number, e.g., NAPA FIL3931 - other filters will fit but don't provide the right fuel pressure) .

the owner's manual calls for 100k change intervals but this is a little on the conservative side.

Wait, what, I actually won that eBay auction?

Ok so I'm reading the 2002 S-Series Maintenance Schedule that's in the back of the S-Series Owner's Handbook. at 100,000 miles it says

Replace engine fuel filter.
Drain, flush and refill cooling system every 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Inspect coolant hoses. Clean radiator, condenser, pressure cap and neck. Pressure check the cooling system and pressure cap.
Change automatic transaxle fluid and filter.
