Default Authorized Service Providers

I received an email today from my Saturn Customer Care Team that explains how Saturn is launching a network of Saturn Authorized Service Providers. The plan is to have these service providers in place as Saturn closes its stores. They say they should have a solid presence of providers in place by the end of 2010.

I think it's a good move. I was wondering how it would play out if they say any GM dealer would do the work, when in reality many would refuse (or not have the tools and training).

Before this announcement I figured I'd have to just have to find out on my own which GM dealers work on Saturns.

Glad that you received your letters. As Saturn retailers close their stores, we are activating the Saturn Authorized Service Providers (SASP). We were playing a little catch up on the stores that closed before the Penske deal was supposed to conclude, but are within a couple of weeks of activating the SASPs. From this point forward, the transition should be seamless.

Just so you know, our goal was to find the best performing GM dealership near the location of the closed Saturn facility. We have been extremely encouraged by the enthusiasm displayed by the GM dealers who accepting the responsibility of the SASP program. Your Saturn service and parts needs should be satisfied for years to come.

This has been a trying experience for a lot of folks--thanks for hanging in there with us.

Nice,
I get one Saturn Authorized Sericer within a 50 mile radius. There are still a few actual Saturn dealers, but how much longer will that last?

This particular dealers service staff would not be permitted to walk my ex-wifes dog. A close friend used them for warranty service on her Pontiac, that was repeatedly bungled badly by thier 'expert service tehnicians'.

Thanks GM for yet another slap in the face. I will continue to use better qualified GM dealers for warranty work. Trying to force Saturn owners to a specific dealer should be about as successful as herding feral cats.

Anytime I have a choice, I will spend my money elsewhere. My local independent mechanic certainly benefits from GM self-serving choices.

GM continues to poison the relationship in an attempt to distance themselves from the Saturn brand...

Tivo:

Please send me a PM with info about your service provider. We want to be sure we have the right dealers in the right locations. For the most part, we will have a GM dealer for every closed Saturn facility.

Even when we had all of our Saturn stores open, you had to go to one of them for service. This is no different. You are not "assigned a dealer"--you can go to any Saturn Authorized Service Provider for saturn warranty service. Go to www.saturn.com or www.findsaturndealer.com to locate either an open Saturn facility or an Saturn Authorized Service Provider.

you do not have to go to the authorized dealer. any gm dealer can still do the work. largest selection of parts would be at the authorized dealer but parts runners can get the parts for a different gm dealer.

This is not entirely accurate. GM dealers can only perform warranty repairs in the event of an emergency or other significant customer inconvenience. Your best bet is to go to an open Saturn facility or a Saturn Authorized Service Provider.

My Taylor,

I purchased my L300 from a non-Saturn/non-GM store and was wondering if I (and folks like me) would be informed of the the locations of local SASP facilities as well.

Thanks!

Actually
I will not choose to tell someone elses story secondhand since I may not know every detail or communicate it exactly. A second SASP now appears (zip 30071) but in the opposite 'hemisphere' of Atlanta. Inconvienient for those of us who actually work something beyond the normal 9-5 M-F. Since the remaining open Saturn dealers will likely be vanishing (or become something else) when the brand is finally closed by GM these short lived locations are not really a solution, but a temporary red herring to pacify the Saturn owners as they are increasingly abandoned by GM. None of the listed Saturn dealers even have the SASP logo, and a reasonable person would not make assumptions about how GM will be treating us in the future. Oldsmobile owners are still directed to the nearest GM dealer even now, so that 'roadmap' seems to be repeated, but with a 'spin' to direct us to 'Saturn specialists' rather than just any dealer. I will choose service locations based on my needs and let GM sort it out. TiVoPrincess happens to work right next door to the well known local Chevrolet dealer and they seem happy doing warranty service my Vue when necessary. This dealer is actually more convienient than the original dealer I purchased my Saturn from, so I will consider that a 'win' for me.

GM continues to demonstrate thier disdain for Saturn owners by excluding our vehicles from GM service department specials like brake service or oil changes. Winning free thinkers back will take a lot more than a dollars off cupon 'handout' when buying another GM vehicle...

Unfortunately, we are only sending letters to the customers who bought new or Certified PreOwned Saturn vehicles and still own them. You can, however, find a service location by going to www.Saturn.com or www.findsaturndealer.com. This will list all open Saturn facilities and the Saturn Authorized Service Providers.

This is actually very nice. It will be a much closer ride to the nearest Chevy dealer, rather than going all the way to the Saturn "resale" center.

Interesting
that when GM announced the pending sale of Saturn, owners were assured that any GM dealer would be able to service our vehicles. Apparently there is now some amount backpedaling on that promise since Saturn is no longer front page news.

When I need warranty service I may check the SASP list and decide for myself. This all appears to be smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that GM wants to forget Saturn as quickly as possible...

any gm dealer can do warranty work on a saturn and visa versa as of fall of 07. many non saturn dealers didnt want to work on saturn but they could. i would think that now that saturn is gone they would welcome the business.

some amount of paperwork to get 'old GM' to pay 'GM' for services rendered working on my Vue. Something for the accountants involved to work out...
