Default 2000 saturn L300 wagon rear hatch

I just got this wagon recently and car is great but yesterday the rear hatch started opening by itself. Is there a remote opening button? It doesn't open if the doors are locked only when unlocked. It's rather annoying if you are getting in the car and the rear hatch unlatches then you get back out to reclose it then race to get the doors locked so it won't reopen. It even trys to open when the hatch is up. You can hear it trying to open- sounds like the door trying to unlock . Any ideas? Need help.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Default Re: 2000 saturn L300 wagon rear hatch

The only releases I'm aware of (speaking of an 01 LW3) are on the key fob, or the hatch cylinder itself.

Simplistic, but you're not bumping it somehow?

The hatch release button is at the extreme left side of the instrument panel, below the air vent. Make sure it isn't being held in the release position. Also check your RKE transmitter, but if it were this it would eat batteries. One other possibility is a problem in the wiring to the tailgate. There can be breaks at the hinge line where the wires flex.

Odd as it sounds, the LW does not have the dash release button sedans are eqipped with.

Why not is beyond me .
