2008 Astra XR
Default This is cool!

So I was washing my car the other day to get all the disgusting salt off of it and was wiping the door sill off when I accidently bumbed the bright stalk and all of a sudden all my lights came on including the reverse lights and the license plate lights! I was like wtf!? I remember when I owned my Audi A4 that some of them came w/ a "coming home"' feature and this reminded me of that! So when I get out of the car at night and can't see I can just pull the brights stalk towards you when the car is off and this feature comes on! Pretty cool discovering all these little querks that the dealer made no mention at all of.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

It's a great feature that only got a 1-2 line entry in the owner's manual. Since it's not common (in that design) on US brands, I'm not surprised that it wasn't mentioned in the delivery spiel.

My Aura automatically kept the headlamps on (in auto mode) for about 60 sec after turning the key off and opening the door. But they also came on along with the interior lights when I unlocked the door with the fob. Wish this last feature was part of the Astra programming.

The procedure in case any one isn't familiar is as follows:
Turn off ignition
remove key
open driver door
pull high beam stalk (flash to pass)

The lights stay on for 30 seconds to a minute, but do go off on their own.

You got a delivery spiel? I didn't - I was just sent on my way. I typically know more than the person selling me the car, but in the case of the Astra, there are a ton of little features that would have been nice to mention. I remember my first rainstorm and trying to figure out how to operate the rear wiper.
