Default grinding/rubbing sound when I turn to the left. . .

So I've been chasing this issue for about 2 months now.

I've done a lot of searching and reading the old forum posts. This problem arose after replacing my front wheel bearings and hubs. All the press work was done by a shop. The only time I have a rubbing/grinding noise is when I turn tight to the left the noise is coming from the passenger wheel well, and it seems like i'm getting some feedback in the wheel.

First I thought it was my brake pads hitting a rusted area on my rotors, due to them sitting slightly different on the new hubs. After replacing both the pads and rotors (they weren't even warped ) The noise has not changed, but braking has improved with the better pads .

Next after reading I thought it was a brake line they may have gotten looped the incorrect way while installing my calipers. Checked the brake lines, and they are both looped toward the rear of the car.

I have turned my wheels full to the left and checked under the car, along the tires, brake lines, calipers, steering knuckle and nothing is rubbing.

The two things left that may be the calprits are possibly my strut or something suspension related making noise ( I did have a little squeak which came from my strut after my car sitting on jack stands for two days, this noise eventually went away after about two weeks of driving) or maybe something to do with the steering system.

What I could use from you fine people is ideas, procedures to check a specific component, or anything else you might think it could be.

Recently replace parts: front wheel bearings, hubs, lower control arms, driver outer tie rod end, pads, and rotors. I do all my own work on the car. A four wheel alignment was done after the wheel bearing replacement.

the noise may be the front upper strut mount bearings.

If you cannot find anything in the suspension and this may not be your issue.

FWIW: a groaning sort of sound when making a left turn was one of the early symptoms of my failing top engine mount.

I would try and isolate individual components and reproduce the problem. In the suggestions given here, you should also have a friend sit in the driver's seat because some sounds can only be heard from inside the car.

Try bouncing the front end suspension while stopped and see if that reproduces the noise. Do the same for the rear because the body of the car can transmit sound and give a false impression of where it's coming from. Besides that, it's an easy test.

Is the sound only heard when turning the steering wheel? ie: if you turn left in a parking lot and hold the steering wheel at a constant position while the car is in motion, does the sound go away? If so, jack the front end up, insert the key, turn to ACC, and turn off (disables steering lock). Go to the front passenger tire, get a good grip at 3 and 9 o clock, and push the steering right and left manually using the tire only. Since you'll be physically nearer to the source of the sound, it should be easier to figure out where it's coming from. This would just tell you if a steering component is causing it, but it wouldn't tell you much else.

If it makes the sound constantly while turning left in the parking lot, then you can eliminate most of the suspension components and the steering components. However, based on your description of what's been replaced, I'm not sure what it would be in that case. You might have to start inspecting the inside passenger's side of the engine compartment for sources of the noise.

Is the tire rubbing against something?
