Brake Booster Check Valve...how to inspect/replace?
95 SL2 214k
I have been trying to hunt down a few bad rattles/noises over the past couple days. Had the cat replaced yesterday as it was making a ton of noise especially in the 1900-2000rpm range....almost unbareable in the cabin.
Well the only noise I have left is a fast and kinda pitchy rattle, metal sound, only heard while driving and in the 1600-1800 rpm range, other than that it's near non existent, but it seems I'm in that rpm range frequently enough that it is starting to drive me crazy!!!
I found on a google search that there was a TSB for the 94-97 SL that the brake booster check valves go bad (black in color) causing a very annoying rattle sound in the cabin, and need to be replaced with the updated, brown check valve.
Is this the check valve that plugs directly into the face of the brake booster (firewall side behind instrument cluster) and if so how do I remove it to inspect and/or replace?
