1998 SL1
Dizzy Engine Swap Help

Hi everyone!

I've got a 98 SL1 auto with a oil -> coolant leak somewhere that I've given up trying to find (replaced the head already, did the headgasket TWICE).

I've found a 95 SL1 5spd with a low kilometer engine. What would be involved in transplanting this engine?

The 95 is OBD1, does that matter? 98 has returnless fuel lines, do I need to change the fuel rail? I want to keep the automatic in the 98, do I need to change just the flywheel?

So many questions... Help me oh saturn geniuses!

...
----
98 Saturn SL1 - 160k - mixer - coolant + oil
99 Nissan Altima - 290k - rusty - lots'a'spots
02 Pontiac Aztek AWD - 165k - lazy - always broken
01 Mazda Tribute AWD - 140k - To replace Aztek

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

You will need to swap intake manifolds, use the 95 manifold, and everything attached to it. Make sure you take the flex plate of your old engine and switch it with the flywheel on the new engine. DO NOT use the flywheel bolts in the flex plate! Other then that it is pretty much a drop in.

No need to swap intake manifolds. They're the same from 1995-1999. You will need to swap over your current throttlebody (vacuum port orientation is different), vacuum line assembley (95 has two lines, 98 has one) and fuel rail/injectors (98 is returnless, 95 is not and 98 uses different injectors than 95). Then swap over your current sensors if they're in know working order.
