Default 05 Vue unknown dash light

I have an 05 vue that has a dash light on. I didn't receive an owners manual becuase I bought it used. The light is on the left hand side of the dash and its the middle light. It looks like an engine but I am not sure. I have hooked up two different code readers and they both show no codes. The light go off once I reset it, but then it comes on. Can someone tell me which light it is and what might be the problem? Thank you! It's been on for a while, but I haven't noticed any performance problems.

That icon is the service engine soon (SES) indicator; once its lit you should be able to plug in a reader to retrieve any error code(s). Our How-to library on page 5 titled OBD II Powertrain Codes lists almost every code definition. If you cannot read the codes with your reader try Autozone for free. Don't erase the code until they're read. Write down the code for posting.

I have tried that numerous times and it states no codes and passed. I have tried to retrieve any old codes and it still shows none. Do I need to go to the dealer to have them reset it or is there some way I could.

The SES codes can be read only when the indicator is on but if the power to the OBD II connector is blown there won't be any communications between the DLC and reader. Pin 16 is 12v power from the AUX 1 OUTLET 10A/15A fuse, pins 4 or 5 are ground.

Resetting codes can be done; pulling the battery negative cable for 5-minutes, B+/ECM/TCM 10A fuse or push button reset on most readers.

Hopefully the error is nothing more than the gas cap leak.
