Just got word that my friends 2003 VUE ( V6 ) is getting a new rear AWD unit. It seems that he is one of the 15 or so... so far that have a seal problem. After about 800 miles, less than 30 days...he heard a "grinding" sound from the rear. Sure enough the Tech at the dealer in White Plains identifiied the problem and they are shipping the part to replace. He will also be getting 2 new front tires (out of round... vibration at about 60 MPH). He likes the car and in NOT looking to give it back (less than 1500 miles, less than 30 days). He also complained of the engine ticking (fuel injectors).
There also was a sound at certain speeds..the roof rack was not properly seated in the rails. I think all will go well and he is happy with the treatment from Saturn. Getting a rental etc. He dropped the car at the Techs house about 2 miles from his house ..for convience..and a good test drive (25 miles to White Plains).

I'm at 5100 km and haven't noticed any noise or leaks from my rear AWD unit. I guess I got a good one! The only noise I noticed was the first time the rear wheels kicked in and there was a muffled thud. Now the rears engage seamlessly and quietly. It's been a real benefit these past few days with the 6 inches of snow we received on Sunday!
