Default TPMS won't fit my wheels

OK, So I hand my wheels and tires over to my girlfriend to get them mounted at her friends shop, and they tell her that when the sensors are mounted the tires won't hold pressure. The gentleman went on to tell her that it's because they are Saab rims. I kinda trusted the guys word, I mean, he runs a tire shop right? Well he tells her he never heard of Nokian, really?

Anyway I guess I have a set of TPSM for sale PM me if interested.

id say more likly because they are older rims. i would have to think any rimas made in the last few years could take a tp monitor. they are all a pretty standard part and the law.

TPMS come in diff sizes and angle in which they mount on the rim. It may be that the way they mounted on the rims they came off of is different than how they need to mount on the rims your using now.

Yea the guy said something about angle, and now that I think about it I kinda see how they might not work in those rims. Bummer, but I guess it was just an expensive solution to a few cents worth of black electrical tape on the dash since I am good about checking my tire pressure when I fill up. I still can't wait to try them out, bring on the snow!

I work part-time at a wheel shop and we try and use peoples factory sensors as often as poss. but sometimes we have to order new ones to fit thier wheels properly.
I ordered mine (TPMS) through www.tirerack.com to make sure I had the proper ones for my new wheels. They were about $40-50 a piece. You may be able to call them and get ones to fit if you want them on still. Sounds like your solution will work for you though.

I just got some new wheels and when the shop was mounting the tires they took the TPMS off my 16" steelies and put them on the aftermarket 18s. They had the same problem where the wheels were leaking air. They were able to fit the TPMS by using a different size grommet they said. Unfortunately I don't have any more details than that

I work for a dealer in Canada and we use the TPMS for the Astra on Saab wheels all the time have been for two years and never had a problem. The main reason why we use the Saab rims up here is the price of the OEM Astra wheels are insane!

Most service manuals for TPMS recommend replacing the "install kit" (collar and o-rings) after about 2 years. It's an inexpensive fix. IIRC the collar and o-ring for the Astra TPMS is about $3 at my dealer. I paid $65 including tax for 4 new sensors and install kits that are going on my new wheels next spring.
