1999 SC2

I know I need a new starter. Cash flow is low. What starters can I get from my wrecking yard. What years on a 99SC2 will work. SC2, SL2 or what. I'm sure it is better to get a new one. But I can get one from an 02 w/only 20k on it. What years can I use.

I think they're pretty much all the same. Check the different model years on RockAuto and see if the part numbers are the same. It'll also give you an idea of the replacement price. The starter is a bit of a bear to swap. Only a couple bolts but it's tricky to get the top bolt back in.

Just find the newest/lowest mileage S-Series and yank 'er off. Though...I think something changed in the flyweel/flexplate for 3rd gen....try to stay 1st/2nd gen or 3rd gen to be safe.

I had good luck with the folks at DB Electrical. $50, and is working well. No quibble warranty. Certainly better than paying $25 for a ???? JY unit. They're in TN, so shipping should be pretty quick.
