Question outside temperature gauge and HVAC

As the weather is now turning colder, there is a lag of 10 to 15 minutes or more before the outside temperature gauge reads correctly. When the gauge reads colder than the actual temperature (today it was reading 38 degrees), the air conditioning unit will not turn on. I took it to a Saturn dealership and was told that they could not find a problem and was told that the outside air temperature gauge has no effect on any other system in the car. Is this true and is there a fix to the problem?

i had a 2002 trailblazer that had the same problem and when it read low the air wouldnt turn on. it was an outside temperature sensor behind the grill. not too expensive

Press the A/C and recirc. buttons simultaneously. That will update the outside temperature display and allow your HVAC to operate properly. This is a workaround for a problem that GM never got around to addressing (as far as I know).
