Man, I sure hope so.

The network of great people here willing to help a Saturn owner in the clutch with a repair will be even more valuable now with the disappearance of the certified Saturn mechanics that will hit soon once all the Saturn dealers close their doors.

Keep up the good work, Charlie!

You're WAY more respectable of a man and done far more for Saturn owners than Roger Penske ever has.

Saturn owners need this forum now more than ever. If not just to keep up to date with regard to the Saturn wind down, but to exchange information as dealers begin to close and we scramble for alternative service and warranty work facilities.

I think I'll go to a Cadillac Buick or GMC dealer instead.

Absolutely! Charlie's site will be more important than ever with the demise of Saturn. Unfortunately, he won't be getting any more advertising dollars from them to keep things running. Here's hoping he finds some supporters.

I don't think Saturn ever contributed anything to this site.

Ditto.

My impression is that they thought we were a couple thousand owners who didn't know poop from apple butter. Let alone what we know about cars. Boy, were they wrong. If corporate satturn ever picked up on what we have said we would have:

1. Polymer bodied cars.
2. Cars that were innovative, evironmentaly friendly, & fuel efficient.
3. Cars that were designed & manufactured in the U. S.
4. Cars that were stylish, yet practical.
5. Cars that were reliable and easy to service.
6. Sold by dealers who understood their customer's needs & didn't pressure them into buying something they dodn't need.
7. Cars that were performance oriented (RL's). Yet economical to drive.
8. Cars that offered features as standard equipment when the comp made you pay extra.
9. Had service departments that catered to the customer's needs.
10. Provided good value for the dollar amount spent on them.

Sound familiar?

Perhaps if corporate GM could have got their heads out their asses and paid attention to this website, we wouldn't be crying in our beer tonite about the demise of Saturn. They woudl have found out what real customers want, and what it takes to keep em. Don't blame Penske. He at least gave it a try. Nissan turned him down. Blame GM for dumping Saturn in the first place. Yet still wants to keep brands like GMC & buick. Chevy can make trucks instead of GMC. And like several others have said,"Who needs Buick?" Tiger Woods isn't gonna convince me to buy a geriatric vehicle like BuuHawg. The last decent car they made was the Grand National & that was history over 20 years ago. My guess is some wiseass in a GM corp board room kissed ass & suggested the chinese luv buuhawg enuff to keep em.

Yeah, i think the new LaCrosse is based on the Opel Insignia, although I had also read it was designed in China. ???

Here: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car...ignia-car_news

I saw one tonight in Chicago with manufacturer's plates, nice looking car! However, it would have been even nicer as a Saturn.

Sorry about that, Chief.

Wouldn;t trust a chevy or GMC dealer. I took my saturn to a chevy and the disconnected teh odometer then turned around took it to a GMC and they disconnected my AC lines. I have no resorted as college student to try and do my own work. Its tough but fun! This site/forums helped me A LOT compared to all the trash teh dealers put me through....

Bik, you are usually a man of few words, but this is really spot on--you nailed it right on the head; its corporate politics as usual at GM---they kept Buick because of the far eastern market--and the fact that their plants in China are pumping out Buicks as fast as they can to sell th the upwardly mobile Chinese,Indian, and other far east countries. The giverment(sic) demanded they do something to "trim the fat" so Pontiac and Saturn were sacrificed and Saab and Hummer were sold off. Renault(Goshn) basically nixed the deal for Penske--so he's not that culpable--at least he tried.

Even if they did. We all are an insignificant percentage of the Saturn owning population.

I bought a used 2006 Buick LaCrosse and absolutely love it.

The 2010 version looks fantastic. Go to buickforums.com and check it out.

As for Saturnfans, Charlie has done a great service for all for many years and there will be people like me who will visit this site for info on their Saturns.
I hope Saturnfans continues to move forward....
