This may mean a failure of the anti-theft system to operate correctly, leaving the car without anti-theft protection. With the SES indicator on you can access the error code from Autozone to be sure. This shouldn't change the ability to start and operate the car but it would mean either trying the relearn again and hope it clears correctly or replacement of the body control module (BCM). There may be other error codes too.

Uhh, there's a difference between service and wrench indicators; service indicators can be read by almost any reader but wrench codes won't be read by them except for the better (supplemental programs to read manufacturer specific codes) ones; Saturn's Tech II, higher priced aftermarket readers available anywhere, local repair shops with commercial readers that cost more to be able to read wrench codes for one or more vehicle manufacturers. An example of generic readers are the ones that cost the least, about $30, while the manuacturer specific readers that can also read wrench codes may start near ~$300 (one member a while back bought an Actron 9xxx).

All this means is that the wrench code is most likely related to the security issue. Fix the problem and the codes will go away either on the next ignition ON cycle or using these readers/scanners.

Well, unless you know what the wrench code means we're all guessing at this point. Having the code read will put things in a better light as there are few alternatives with no guarantee to improve your situation as it now stands; being able to start and drive normally despite the two indicators displayed. You can try disconnecting the battery negative cable first for 5-minutes, then reconnecting and observing what's displayed with only the ignition in the ON position (after the lamp tests have passed) in the hopes that the two indicators turn off leaving only the normal seat belt/battery/oil/brake indicators on. If the wrench and security lights stays on try starting; if starting works you can try another 30-minute relearn procedure. Be forewarned that this may not work and the worst possible outcome is you're back to not being able to start and drive away. All this seems to point either to a Passlock sensor issue or the bcm. I'm guessing the wrench code may have the clue if its still retained in memory and displays the wrench light.

UPDATE...the computer in the car completely reset today and passed nys inspection....the wrench light and security are still on but the car starts and runs fine...i will try the battery disconnect tomorow to see if the light issue clears....i thought i read somewhere that those lights would go off after 100 key cycles...any truth to that?...and by the way...thankyou all for your continued assisstance...these vehicles have come a long way since i worked for GM..(pre OBD 2)

The most common reason for the security light to stay on after the relearn procedure is because the passlock section of the ignition switch has failed and is not producing any signal. If after getting the car scanned this turns out to be the case, there is a way to make the light go off without replacing the switch. PM me for more info when you find out.
