1995 SL2
Default Quill Seal/Bearing & FSM

Hi All,

Clutch started slipping. I seperated the tranny from the engine and removed the flywheel to inspect the rear main seal, RMS. The RMS was dry as a bone. However, the inside of the bell housing was soaked with a redish tint to it. Base on my reading from this site it looks like the Quill Seal/Bearing.

I followed the directions from differentracing.com to open the trans. The diferential doesn't lift out. Do I need to do something special to release it?

I'm ready to press out the old seal/bearing. Does anyone have the FSM procedure w/ pics they can post?

1995 SL2, 135,000, 5-speed

Its not pressed in or anything. A little wiggling gets it out. Thats what we did when we made that write up.

The diff is out.

The diff pin is in it's proper location. So do I weld it or take a chance...

The tranny is all apart, might as well weld it. You'll be kicking yourself if the pin decides to ever fly out.
