Math-wise, it would be important to havea nicer price to offset the six speed trans available elsewhere. Net present value .. avg price per gallon assumed $4. Life of vehicle 100,000 miles, etc. We need at least $1700 to see a big smile.. here

Not sure if I understand your point. I will say that the 4-speed auto is the Achilles heel of the 4 cyl Vue. This underpowered vehicle desperately needs a 6 speed to make it more competitive and enjoyable to drive. A 6-speed and some softer seats, and I'd be a happy camper.
