Default Has anyone returned their leased Outlook?

As the title says - has anyone returned their leased Outlook? If so what was the outcome? Did they push you to buy it outright and refinance or did they take it back without any problems? We're still about 9 months away from the return but I just wanted to find out.

First they are going to ask if you want another SATURN, then they will do the lease return paper work and let you go on your way. Just be sure to get a copy of the return paper work for your records. Easy as can be.

generally if it is thru a bank they will do everything they can to get you to buy the outlook as threy do not want it back. if it is thru gmac they dont even see you. just go in and drop it off at any gm or saturn dealership. they let gmac know the car is on there lot and come get it.

Since Saturn is now dead I'm wondering what the outcome will be now? Will there be good incentives to hold on to the outlook?

Looking around all of a sudden it appears these things have lost a chunk of their value and aren't so easy to sell used (of course the 'economy' doesn't help either)

Makes no difference to the dealership. It's GMAC's vehicle. They just want to inspect for damage and then it will be assessed for resale. If the dealer wants, they can hold onto it for GMAC and resell for a profit to the dealership or take a pass and let GMAC dispose of it. i.e. ship to another dealer or send to auction etc.

It's generally a good opportunity for the dealer to show you the difference between purchasing the existing vehicle to leasing or buying a new vehicle. It's in their best interest to encourage you to buy something new since they have inventory costs involved with new vehicles that are sitting on the lot. Who knows what GM is doing with what's left of the current deakers about the drop in value of the Saturn inventory?

A dead brand will drop in value like a Yugo or Hyundai Pony. Even though the vehicle will be of top quality it, just the perception the public will have of Saturn now.

Since, you've got 9 months, you'll likely be directed to the nearest Chev/Buick dealer and they will try and upsell you on their products. Convince you that the Enclave/Traverse or Acadia are comparible and the Outlook doesn't come close to the residual value they predicted it would be worth upon return. They'd be right but, who knows just how well GM will be positioned in 9 months. They might have other dealerships to close and consolidate.

Don't get me wrong, I think GM's vehicles are top notch in terms of performance and rate with the best in terms of quality. I just think GM has a very long way to go to fix their company management and image. Being of a free world, I'm going to check out the market and see what it has to offer. Domestic and foreign.

An update since I posted this. We did lots of searching as we thought we'd like to go from the Outlook back to a Suburban (what we had before the Outlook). Turns out the buyout on the Outlook is too good to pass up (its about 75% of the current FMV) and we have low mileage on the '07 (32K) so it makes sense just to buy it outright. It's going in to get anything and everything done under the 3/36 warranty before we do the transaction. As onefunkar posted earlier the value of these vehicles has gone up it would seem making this more attractive.
