Sure they don't have insurance to protect from these losses, they will just go bankrupt again and charge it off to the rest of our countrymen.

I wonder how having a trade that they've played Houdini with the numbers on will affect a return. Will they factor this often fudged trade-in number into the return or just return what you paid?

This looks like an awesome program but I don't see it lasting. They should also limit this to top tier credit worthy customers or it'll get abused like welfare.

Saturn never had a 60 money back guarantee.

Exactly. I can see them now, lining up to get a free 31 day rental.

Remember how well the 0/0/0 promotion worked for Mitsubishi? Nearly bankrupted them as all the ghetto garbage went out and got a Galant or Eclipse and never paid for them.

Actually, it's a 60 day/4000 mile free rental. And it's really not free as you are on the hook for "fees". Even with "fees" though, it might be a good way to "rent" a car for a couple of months. Sort of like how those guys get rentals and burn them up doing bracket racing and autocross.

Thumbs Down Re: GM introduces money-back guarantee

So let me get this right...

Auto company in the RED...asks for bailout money from the government.

Government gives auto company money to "Stay Afloat"

Auto company, files bankrupcty and emerges from Bankruptcy re-organization.

Auto company still operating in the RED...has not turned a profit yet.

Auto company provides Money Back gurantee to potential buyers...

What DOESN'T make sense here? If a company is operating in the RED how in the HELL can you provide a money back guarantee....

Another GREAT idea from the likes of Henderson and Lutz.

Coming in December: ANOTHER bailout from the government for GM..

Wait and see I'm SURE it will happen!!!

GM promises a lot of things, whether they can deliver or not ... they don't care as long as it's somebody else's problem when it comes time to pay the piper.

When I was hired out of college, GM promised me a pension, health care in retirement, stock (worth more than nickel) in a 401k, etc. as part of my compensation. Now, nada ... they took / p*ssed it all away.

90% of the GM business executives were / are either incompetant or outright liars, the other 10%, who were worth a damn, were either pushed out or left in disgust.

As a life-long owner of many GM-only vehicles, I can see no good reason to enrich their coffers further, regardless of the lame offers they will likely dream up.

Pretty sweet deal, I could go get a nice Yukon Denali, take the family on vacation to the mountains, drive it around up there and then return it for just the cost of some doc fees? Where do I sign? You can't rent a Denali from Hertz...
