Default Quad coupe won't be exclusive

Check out

http://www.mazdausa.com/rx8/gallery/....asp?sniffer=1

or the picture below. Saturn may be first, but won't be the only one to be "different" forever. I'm not sure how this slipped under my radar, but I'm not into sports cars (literally! At 6' 5" I can't fit).

*swoons* the RX-8

What a super sexy car.

I feel I may not buy a Saturn on my next car....

Rotarys are SOOOO fun to drive... *swoons*

I have atleast 2 to 3 years until the time comes for a new car however.... *starts saving* It's going to be priced pretty well, defiantely within my budget.

There is a future version of Pontiac Grand Am (Epsilon-based)that might get the quadcoupe treatment as well.

Check out www.gminsidenews.com for details. The site requires registering for membership which I believe is free.

I believe the RX-8 photos were out before the ION photos were, I first though Saturn copied Mazda, but I figured that was impossible.

The Honda Element feature's RAD's and so does the Toyota Extended Cab Pickup.

RAD's certainly aren't new are they?

I seem to recall 30's and 40's roadsters (in the movies anyway ) that had RAD's, but then they were known as "Suicide Doors".

I am sure the car-ncks out there know the makes and models of those old cars.

I'm sure every manufacture will start to have RAD's but Saturn will be the first and from the list of manufacture's that I have seen, I don't think anyone will be priced in a competitive sense with the Ion so far. We saw with extended cab P/U's the 3rd and then the 4th door models and ofcoarse now everyone has them because it's a feature that is demanded by the customer, much like the quad coupes that I'm sure everyone will end up wanting at some point.

Default QUADCOUPE ALMOST NOT THE FIRST

I remember reading an article a couple of years ago that had the mercury cougar receiving the 4 door treatment. They had the pics of the vehicle with slight camoflage. However ford axed the program when cougar sales plumeted.

The '55 Lincoln Continental in Animal House, the car Flounder borrowed from his older brother, had the suicide doors. That car was badass.

The Ion coupe is unique in that it's the first modern implementation of that feature on a small, "sporty" (if it's actually sporty remains to be seen) car.

After living with my '01 SC1 for 2.5 years now, I have mixed feelings on the RAD.

The access is great. I could get my son in and out of the car much easier than a 4-dr (open door, reach in, unlock back door, open door, etc.). The design and functionality of the RAD is the best feature of the SCx.

The car is now full of creaks and rattles. I highly suspect the RAD and the lack of structural support as the cause. There are times when I can hear the sunroof creak as a result of the car twisting, something that didn't happen in my '96 SL1.

I can only imagine how twisty the Quad-Coupe is going to be.

I would need to be convinced that the design was improved with the ION before I went with the coupe.

Just want to restate that I love it's usefulness, I shudder thinking of going back to 4-doors.
