After Many Stumbles... the Fall of an American Giant

Quote:
Micheline Maynard from the New York Times: It is a company that helped lift hundreds of thousands of American workers into the middle class. It transformed Detroit into the Silicon Valley of its day, a symbol of America's talent for innovation. It built celebrated cars, like Cadillacs, that became synonymous with luxury. And now it is filing for bankruptcy, something that would have been unfathomable even a few years ago, much less decades ago, when it was a dominant force in the American economy.

The SEC filing that I reported on was official.

Now we will see what happens with the rest of "Government Motors".

12:15 PM today is when Henderson will make future announcements on GM.

Hmm. According to the article, GM helped hundreds of thousands get into the middle class, huh? Try MILLIONS. In one year, at one time GM had about 400K AMERICAN only union employees plus who knows how many U.S non-union employees at the same time. Take into consideration that they have been around for a hundred years and that the suppliers around in direct support then that statement should easily be millions and not hundreds of thousands.

Anyway, it just goes to show that the average person is clueless as to the impact of the car companies and especially GM as they have been the largest for so long.
