This could be a good deal for the new Saturn company.

Unfortunately if they don't get this deal finalized soon the opportunity will evaporate.

If Saturn owners are worried, what about the owners of the Saturn dealerships? They are most likely more concerned and just as unsure as we are with the fate of Saturn. Do you continue to buy more cars? Do you jump ship and convert it to a KIA dealer or used car lot?

The plot continues to thicken. Same Bat channel, same Bat time...

It's probably the nail in the coffin. Saturn is dead. I honestly don't think there is anyone that can take saturn, or is really interested in buying it.

I guess will find out the true fate of Saturn on June 1st.

> "Once a sale is complete, GM would be willing to consider to continue manufacturing vehicles on a contracted basis should that be requested by Saturn's new owner – which has been rumored to be part of the plan all along."

This is remarkably open-ended.
= "We don't want to do this , we can't afford to do otherwise in the present environment".

Thing is , with GDP down 6.3%(Oct-Dec'08), and another 6.1%(Jan-Mar'09) ... it is still hard to plan revenue. Certainly a better 'deal' for a startup auto mfgr/distributor is harder to imagine.

I see absolutely no reason GM would do anything that would leave an independent Saturn alive.

GM will not want the Saturn name competing with the Chevrolet offerings.
Expect GM to suck Saturn dry and string it along so that there will be nothing left and no one will want it.

From a business point of view, that is their only choice.

I have very much liked my Saturns and very much liked the dealership/shop experience (compared to others). But, if GM ends up being owned by the UAW and the US Government, I'll never buy another. Nationalization of an industry or the forced giving of a share of a business to the labor party that helped hobble that business is not the American way. If that happens, the only US name I'll look at in the future will be Ford.... and I've never bought a Ford before.

Good bye GM.
Reorganize out or court, go Chapter 11, or lose this long time customer.

Here is some interesting food for thought....

If Telesto buys "Saturn"...from a name standpoint: A match made in "Celestial Heaven"

Telesto is a Moon of Saturn.Saturn was named after the space program of NASA .....how ironic:

Also found this:

John Pappanastos, who is the head of EFG companies...only found this one website, which makes reference to Bob Moore (who is affiliated with the Oklahoma car dealerships, and founder of EFG)

http://www.efgcompanies.com/Pages/default.aspx

Some information on the website about the possible sale of Saturn, but to me this looks more like a "Business Model" to selling different things...i.e. note the Hyundai tie in, as well as other dealerships saying to a point that the "EFG" way helped them do this, or do that, or "Maximize profit/traffic", etc. in their stores.

If this venture does happen...the Saturn name will be just that...Name only of a vehicle with this group behind them...meaning that you will have the Dealership network selling cars with parts made all over the place with a Saturn name on them.

In so many words...essentially the same thing that GM did with Saturn---rebadging the car to look/work like something else already out there.

To do what "Telesto Ventures" is saying and only having $780K in sales last year...with a car company would be nothing short of an automotive miracle.

If it happens...Great.
If it doesn't...Saturn had a good run while it was around.

Default Re: New Saturn Updates and Clarifications Surface After GM Released Its Revised Viabi

I have loved owning my Saturns...including my 2008 Astra XR, which I purchased last August. I REALLY love my Astra and believe it is a much better vehicle then Mazda and Toyota......BUT....If GM does not sell Saturn to anyone and shuts it done.....I promise on the bible...I will never buy any GM product in the future. At that point I WILL pay a few thousand more for a foreign vehicle. PLEASE....GM, be good to your LOYAL SATURN customers and make a deal work.

Like I said, being a fan of this new "Saturn" would be like being a fan of Amway! But I don't see it happening anyway.

At the end of June I will be turning in my 2006 V6 Vue which will be my 5th and final Saturn. Sad really, been a fan of the brand since our first which was a silver 1993 SL1 we bought in 1996.

GM and the UAW missed a huge opportunity here.

I guess we few American car owners now must go Foreign, as a result of this fiasco. The unions must be broken, as the american made Honda's. I will be looking to buy a Toyoto or a Honda in my 2010 purchase. I liked Saturn and have a Vue 2005 and had a LS-2 2000 prior; but, I will never buy another GM, Ford or Chrysler product.

There was talk back in February of BYD possibly buying Saturn. If they did, they could deliver the first affordable, factory PHEV to the American consumer.

If not, then it's adiós mis amigos. It's been swell. My SW2 and Relay have served me well. Probably won't have too much trouble selling 'em to a private buyer in a few years when I swap out for, hopefully, an EV Ford Fusion and a PHEV Ford Transit Connect. OK, maybe I'll have to settle for an EV Focus and PHEV Escape.

What did Ford ever do? They are the ONLY US Car Company that has not gotten government help and the ONLY US Car Company to make decent, reliable, and fuel efficient cars. They are the only one that have been on their feet throughout the last four years, and are poised to once again become the greatest. I love my new Focus and looked to Ford to by my car for the reasons above. Sure, my Ford dealer is nowhere near as good as my old Saturn one where I got my SL1, but I'd rather have the title to a vehicle that will hold its value in the long run. I'm gonna be a patriot on this one, my car was designed in the USA and built in Waynesburg, Michigan. 70% of the parts on the car, according to the sticker, were casted and fabricated in the United States. I see no reason to support GM or Chrysler, in my eyes, they are the failures. Please just let them disappear already.
