Default The end of an era.

Some of you know me. I've been around here for a LONG TIME. Not so much lately, though; I had been having so many little annoying issues with my SW2 I didn't even want to think about it.

Well, as of last weekend, I traded it in. It was a sad thing to see her go; I'd owned that little red wagon for nearly 7 years now. And a 95 SL2 for 5 years before that; I was an S-series fan, to be sure. But it was just time to let go. The wife cried; it was her daily driver

So God-speed, little Radio Flyer, wherever you may go:

The new hotness is this 2003 Ford SVT Focus. An entirely different animal, to be sure:

But I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the little cars that could - the Saturn S-series. Having owned one for a large portion of my adult life, I really became fond of them, warts and all. I'll bemoan the fact that Saturn never upgraded anything after 1995, and wish forever that I wish I could have bought an SC2 Redline instead.

I'll still be around; I can't just drop such a significant part of my life. Plus, I'm dying to see what kind of things Saturn pulls out of their sleeve for 2012. Here's hoping it's as fantastic as these little S-cars were in their time.

Haha! True that. I grew up in a GM family, and my dad gives me a lot of grief for owning two Ford products now, but I can always point to my brother and his Volkswagen Beetle to take a little of the heat off.

Sad to see the Wagon go...but it looks like it has served you well. Nice that you picked the photo from the 2004 Columbus Meetup. That's me and my wife in the background with my 94 SC1 "Amber"...and YeloSC2 (is he still around on the boards?)

Well, I hope the new car serves you as good as the Wagon did. Speaking of "Ending an era"...do you have any parts at all from the wagon that you may have lying around in your garage? I'll gladly take any if you have some.

I have a few. I kept the front leather seats, the Cosmo intake and K&N filter, the strut tower brace, the Expression series pedal covers, and the clear corner markers. Shoot me a PM or e-mail if you want anything; we'd love to see you guys again

I hope he knows that Ford is an American company.

That said, hope the Focus will serve you well bud. I'm thinking about getting the Focus wagon myself, although a little bit of me wants TAURUS (or Sable), especially their wagon variant.

Don't know about the newer Taurus/Sables but I've heard, in the past, that they were not very reliable. Better to stick with the Focus??

My mom has a Focus Hatch back. Nothing special. My tattoo artist had the SVT. Nothing special.

Wow, such hostility.

Well, I think the SVT is pretty special. And so does most of the automotive press.

In fact, if you pick up the brand new May 2009 issue of Automobile Magazine, check out the feature article, called 12 Best Bets: Pay a Little, Get a Lot: The Best Picks from 10 Years of All-Star Winners. First on the list: the Ford SVT Focus. Right up there with the Subaru WRX, Infiniti G35 Coupe, Porsche Boxster, Mazda Miata, Mini Cooper... and more.

The Focus also has its own NASA Spec Racing series, which is... a big thing, really.

So ignorant, baseless, biased comments, like these previous two, really say more about the person making them. Know your role, kids. When you have been driving your S-series for 12 years, then maybe you can say things like that.
