Default my car wont stay running and idky

okay heres the details it is a 1998 saturn sl2 with about 180k miles,

about a year ago the service engine light came on, said p0446 which is the Evap system "vent controll malfunction".

havent had anyproblems untill last night when the car died while driving. we checked out the battery it was putting out enough power.

its got fuel pressure, put a pressure tester on the fuel line to check to see if there was pressure while running. it had enough pressue. when the car shut off; it still had enough fuel pressure.

i can hear the fuel pump whine before you start the car.

has anyone had this problem before? please post replys on advice or anythign that may help.

could it be the crankshaft position sensor?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

In one word, YEP! But to verify a failed cps you'll have to perform 'rocket science' ( ) involving the spark test; when the engine dies unexpectedly, remove the coil wires and observe for sparks across the coil towers while someone cranks the engine over. The lack of spark across the coils usually indicates a faulty crank position sensor (CPS). The second fault may be the ignition module but more cps' fail than ignition modules. The cps is located above and behind the starter, mounted with one 10mm bolt. Buy it from any auto store stocking it.

...
*The CPS is the heart of the entire EFI system. No cps = dead EFI system*
*There's more to a/c than just a few cans of refrigerant*
*There's more to brakes than just replacing parts*

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
