Default What is a pinch nut?

Here's a good one for all of you-- I'm changing the badges on my Saturn- actually, I have to replace all of them because of vandalism (they were ripped right off, and gone forever). Now, I bought black ones from SPS, and in the instructions, it says to just use the pinch nut but obviously I haven't got any. My question is: Can you just buy these at Home Depot, and if not, should my local Saturn retailer have them? What should I ask for, because when I went to one Saturn dealer, they told me that, "Glue is how they stick on. That's the way they do it at the factory."

Thanks,

Brianmc

Pinch nut? ... hmmmm ... when I had to replace mine, I got the new emblem from the Saturn retailer and also got the "speed nut" from them too. Looks like a regular nut, just stamped from a piece of sheet metal ... you can get these from the hardware store. Perhaps the pinch nut is along the same lines ... however, it may be the rectangular piece of sheet metal that has a slight bow to and a hole in the middle ... once pressed on, if you try to pull it back, the two fingers in the middle will pinch together on the plastic stud. The retailer told me NOT to use glue.

OK. Envision this - Tight (no, I mean REALLY tight) leather pants. You've had them for 15 years. You've been getting just a bit wider in the back end. Squeeze into those pants and voila - Pinchnuts.

As said by someone else on the board - Sorry, TDMMDI.
