![]() The SES light came on in my Vue. The one with the car with the wrench inside of it. I called my shop and they told me it just needed to be reset.
What's the manual way to do this without a scanner?

![]() Don't know 100% if this will workon your car but on a lot of cars if you unhook the battery for and hour or to it will reset the ECU.

![]() Are you sure you don't want your shop to read the code to see what's wrong?
I think that the light will turn off automatically after a certain number of driver cycles. My SES light did. Maybe drive it for a week. I will admit. Having a code reader really ROCKS! You can find them under $30. You can clear the code and see if it comes back.

![]() The wrench light isn't an SES light.... it's completely different.
A code that is non-emissions related has been set - it could be anything from a short somewhere to a failing component in the body systems, transmission - anywhere. Why not spend a little bit of money, take it to a dealer to get it read (places like Autozone can't read wrench lights), and potentially save yourself more money down the road from something failing that could have been fixed early on? ~D.J.~ ... 2012 Mercedes Benz C250 Sport Sedan 2008 smart fortwo Passion Coupe 8/28/2008 - 3/12/2012 2002 VUE FWD4m - Gone but not forgotten. 5/14/2002 - 10/31/2011

![]() Like previous posters have said, this is not a powertrain fault so it could be anything else, but not the engine and probably not the transmission. Ours came on when we had low brake fluid (pads were worn down)... about a week later the brake light also came on which alerted me to the problem. Changed the pads which re-filled the reservoir and it is off. It will also come on if you have a blown fuse or something (or an "intentionally blown" fuse due to the horn switch failed on)

Ditto on the comment. Trying to save a few bucks and not find out what the fault is may cost you big time if the problem fully manifests itself.
